Gnome – Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome

For fans of Red Fang, Mastodon, Primus, and anyone who likes their riffs devastating and their rock stars ridiculous.
Start

We found Gnome at Desertfest Berlin. Three men walked onto the Columbia Theater stage wearing red pointy hats and proceeded to absolutely destroy the place.

That is Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome in one scene.

The riffs on “Old Soul” hit brutally hard. The drums keep everything charging forward. Then, just as this threatens to become a very serious heavy-rock album, somebody starts doing a ridiculous gnomish voice and we’re left wondering what the fuck is happening.

Somehow, it all makes sense.

“Rotten Tongue” and “John Frum” push through heavy rock, metal and doom while the band gleefully throws strange voices, choirs and sudden left turns into the machinery. It sounds chaotic, but the control and how clean it is ridiculous.

Without knowing Gnome, some of the theatrical bits might initially feel like an inside joke. Once you see the faces behind the music, even if only through one of their videos, you go like: Oh yeah, of course. Tracks.

Gnome are a funny band with serious ability. They take the music extremely seriously and seemingly nothing else.

It’s fucking beautiful.
